Well, India is hot, hot, hot, but it is also incredibly fascinating and inviting. I cannot wait to immerse my self in the country's society, cultures, languages, tastes, colors, scents, and people. My classes are going well, and I am becoming close with the ten other students in my group. We are still acclimating ourselves to our new home for the next three months, but I am enjoying every step of the learning process. We traveled to the city of Madurai, where we visited the Meenaskshi temple, an extraordinarily beautiful and intricate Hindu temple. We also spent a day volunteering with a non-profit organization that runs a home for homeless children who are HIV positive. It was heartbreaking and heartwarming to play with these strong and courageous children. The strength of the human spirit is not measured in years.
